A Point to it All - new story in 'Words for the Wild'

I am delighted to be able to share my latest story, 'A Point to it All' in Words for the Wild. The story, about surfing and writing in Morocco, is an adaptation of the nascent first chapter of my novel-in-progress, The Critical Line which I am still in the process of editing. About Me

MY BIO

I have been writing fiction since 2015. An alumnus of New Writing South's Creative Writing Programme, I also hold a PhD in modernist fiction from the University of Birmingham. I write and perform contemporary literary fiction.


In 2017 I was highly commneded in the Brighton Prize for the short story and featured in their anthology. 

My work has been published in 2018 in DNA MagazineThe Forge Liteary Journal, Words for the Wild and The Nottingham Review and is forthcoming in Porridge later in the year. I am at work on my first novel. 

I have read work at the Brighton Fringe Festival and at Brighton's Rattle Tales (the blurry picture to the left of me doing just that).

I live on the south coast, near Brighton, UK with my wife, Liz and two young daughters, Ciara and Maeve.

A Rattling Good Time

On May 16th, I took another step in my development as a writer with my first public spoken word performance, at Rattle Tales in Brighton as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival.

I am extremely proud to be able to present my piece in DNA Magazine, 'Empty Shoes', a piece inspired by a sculpture in Budapest that I visited some years ago with my wife. You can find the piece here, in Issue 3, Locations.

This piece, 'Bloody But Unbowed: Belfast 1998', is one I'm very proud of, in The Forge Literary Magazine, and is accompanied by a brief interview about the piece.

THE NOTTINGHAM REVIEW

MAY 2018

I have long admired The Nottingham Review as one of the best literary magazines in the UK. I am delighted that my story 'The Plunge' will feature in the first print edition of the magazine.
